The Fort Smith Darby Challenge

The Event Date & Time

Mark your calendars for the Annual Fort Smith Darby Challenge, taking place on the last Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. in downtown Fort Smith. This military-inspired ruck march and race honors Fort Smith native General William O. Darby while celebrating the enduring bond between Fort Smith and its Italian sister cities, Cisterna and Nago-Torbole.

13.1mile / 10K / 5K -RUCK, RUN or WALK

This non-sanctioned but timed event features a half marathon (13.1 m), 10K, or 5K, inviting participants of all abilities to ruck, run, or walk. Additionally, a virtual participation option is offered, with finisher medals awarded to everyone who completes the challenge and special recognition for those with top times.

Event Proceeds

Proceeds from the event will benefit both the Fort Smith Museum of History and the new Darby House Organization.
